THE ASSOCIATION OF MASTER PAINTERS AND DECORATORS OF NEW YORK, INC. PARTICIPATES IN NEPHCURE FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER

NEW YORK – December 10, 2012 – On November 28, 2012 the NephCure Foundation held its annual fundraising dinner, “Countdown to a Cure,” at Capitale in New York City. The Association of Master Painters and Decorators of New York, Inc.’s Bruce Ruinsky served on the event committee for the dinner, and reports that this year’s event raised nearly $700,000. However, the struggle continues for victims of these debilitating diseases, many of whom are children.

The NephCure Foundation is the only organization committed exclusively to supporting research to identify the cause, improve treatment and ultimately find a cure for the potentially debilitating kidney diseases Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis Syndrome and Nephrotic Syndrome. FSGS is one of the causes of Nephrotic Syndrome (NS), which may also arise from diabetes, cancer, amyloidosis, lupus, vasculitic disorders and other conditions. These diseases cause improper functioning of the kidneys which can lead to extended damage and even failure.

The Nephcure Foundation is particularly important to the Association of Master Painters, as one of their members, Michael Levine of L&L Painting Co., Inc., has a son named Matthew who suffers from FSGS. Because of this the Association has been actively involved in fundraising and support efforts, the most recent of which was the Countdown to a Cure fundraiser.
